Welcome to our resident pizza place. You will start with a local houston beer (or cider in boyfriend's case, or water, or dr. pepper in mine ;), and an order of garlic bread with marinara.
The deliciousness is kind of unbelievable. The original star pizza showed up in 1976 in a two-story house started by an ex-chicagoan who deemed Houston's pizza not good enough. Thank the lord for that man. Star Pizza is our go-to for pizza and chatting. Its homey and easy and the pizza is amazeballs. We're grateful to live right next to the 2nd location thats smack in the middle of our apartment and my friends' new house! YUMZ for days! But really...
So this is where I'll be all summer...
xoxo

Home Brew
I'm taking a Filmmaking Documentary class this semester, lucky for me! Our school thankfully gave our two teachers (Media Production professor + grad Oral History professor) a chance to try out this new type of class. We are a mix of graduate students and undergraduate students, and we get to make our own documentaries (based around food culture in Houston) that will be part of a larger project in the long run.. including an interactive website and a museum exhibition. Pretty fun class, really. Anyways, my group is doing our project on the local home-brewing scene in Houston. This weekend is the Dixie Cup, a big home-brewing competition, that we hope to cover! Seriously, we probably have the most fun documentary. While interviewing some of the guys, we were forced to drink beer and make hilarious conversation (so hard ;). We got some great video, and when its completed I'll probably end up posting it. In the mean time... here are some fun snaps I took last week of the Houston Foam Rangers (so great).
froyos.

Somehow I convinced the boy to come & get me after his night class so that we could go get some froyos. He thinks it's ridiculous that I add an 's' onto froyo (so, of course, it makes me do it more often). I always stick to my perfect concoction of strawberry-kiwi and a dab of cheesecake on top, with strawberries, gummy bears, and cookie dough toppings. Delicious. John always forgets how good froyo is until he gets there and ends up with a crazy mix of nearly everything. To each their own.
John wanted to take a picture of me and after multiple minutes of hearing the autofocus work its magic, i was like okay, hand me the camera. John's like, "But.. I only took 2 pictures..". That's cool, John. Playing with autofocus and not getting any pictures of anything but your froyo cup is cool. It's whatever. ;)
Happy Monday night!
Weekend Love.

I had a lovely weekend with myself. :) I spent the weekend relaxing, shopping, and crafting. What more could I want? Nada. Sunday morning I went and picked up some beignets and saaaaaaavored them. yumyum! Ever since new orleans I've been craving myself some beignets. They are so delicious and powdery. I don't even like doughnuts, so this is a big step for me.
I crafted up a garland to hang over my bed and my measley/splotchy canvases. After looking at this picture, I really want to re-do them. I promise they don't look so weird in real life.
I also made myself a leather bracelet, which was surprisingly easy (after I ate dinner). Pictures on that latah. :) Happy Monday.
Happy birthday, Dad.
Hope you enjoy the Chocolate Cinnamon Bundt Cake that I made for you complete with girly banner. ;)

Recipe from here.
PS: don't you love the fish on the wall? I'm pretty sure it sings too.
....yeah, it's not ours. ;)

Pink Velvet.
I've been dying to try out this recipe by Sprinkle Bakes. Hers looks so much better than mine, but granted I've never rolled a cake before. I think mine was a little too thin.
Then again, the boyfriend said he was going to eat it until he was totally full (pre-dinner). So I think he gave it a thumbs up.
It was surprisingly really easy to make!
Goodbye sheet cakes, hello rolled cakes foreva!
Cupcakes Part Two.
Thank you for your well wishes :)
I am feeling a bit better I think. I don't remember much after my test. I still feel kind of stuffy, but I'm totally functional now!
These photos were for my midterm portfolio. J was such a good model!

You're my Cuppy Cake.

CUPCAKES.
Chocolate cupcakes with vanilla icing on top.
This is a little taste of my next photo assignment that I did today with one of my friends. I can't wait to get all the pictures up!
Last night I also did some photos in the dark, messing with lighting and shutter speed. They came out kind of interesting! I'm happy about them. They will be posted this week, along with an outfit post of what I wore yesterday! Look at me, preparing for my blog. ;)
I have a test on Thursday that I am not prepared for at all. So that's what I'll be doing from now until thursday morning.
In other news I watched Eat Pray Love and Dear John this weekend. Surprisingly I was pleased with both of them. I was scared Dear John would make me cry like a little baby (It didn't). Eat, Pray, Love was a lovely story and Javier Bardem is sooooo great. I love him. Penelope Cruz is so lucky.

Have a great week, loves!
