A little recap of the weekend in photographic form. I did a little christmas-y shoot for my sister's little family on Saturday. My 2 year old niece is growing up so fast! She is beautiful.
On Sunday I mentioned in my last post that I got to see my two best friends get engaged! I'd been talking to Andrew (the future GROOM) all morning to help figure out the plan. Last minute (right before the sun was going to set!) he decided on a bike ride. We waited behind a pretty bridge near downtown for them to arrive, and then quickly high-tailed it when we realized that whitney (hello future bride) could most definitely see us where we were standing. Luckily she didn't. But it was close. Real close. Then I snuck up on them, and with a little help from a fellow photographer keeping an eye out, I took the photos!
So that was my lovely and memorable weekend. Here comes another one!
Last Friday before Christmas! And of course I had to go to the mall today. Besides the driving it wasn't so bad. I was in and out with a little bit of time to spare but I hate HOUSTON DRIVERS. I just can't. Okay. Have a wonderfully holiday-full weekend!!!
xoxo

Shenanigans
Lots of things happened this past weekend. It all started thursday night at our place. Gingerbread men were baked & christmas mojitos were poured. The grinch was on TV. A pleasant evening with a few of my favorites! I got a shirt with a bulldog on it, so obviously my night was made. This led into friday evening, where another christmas party was held. I received a live lobster during the white elephant exchange. That was a surprise. Saturday was sibling day. I grabbed lunch with my brother and my sister's little family. Then we went to the park where I took some photos of my niece (more on this later). It got so cold out of no where, so when I got home it was time to relax. I scrapbooked & took a bath & put on a face mask. One of those nights. Then Sunday. Oh Sunday.
This happened Sunday. My best friends got engaged! Finally! And I got to be there to take photos! The actual engagement photos are still in lightroom being edited, but I put some iPhone shots to tide the blog over. Anywho. It's been a weekend.

anniversary weekend
Last friday was me and the boyfriend's SIX year anniversary. Good lord the time is passing so quickly. I was just sixteen going on seventeen and now I'm twenty-two going on twenty-three... insanity. John has been my constant through bouts of loneliness and anxiety, changing majors, graduating high school AND college, etc. etc. I could go on forever. He really is my favorite person. I am so lucky to have dated him for this long, and I will love him fo-eva whether we're together or apart.
BUT ANYWAY ENOUGH ABOUT THAT.
I got him shoes. He took me to the circus.

Saturday, I met up with the lady whose basically my little sister. We shopped a bit and checked out a new restaurant on washington ave called Hollister. Its a cute brunch place open until 2:30, but they stayed open for us until 3:00 even after the chef had gone. I wanted beignets, but since the chef had headed out I had to settle for mac & cheese and bacon... little did I know I wasn't settling... there were CHEETOS on my mac&cheese! It's like they knew me...
Sunday, we met up at friend's house for a bbq. I took over desserts and whipped up these and these. We sat outside and drank sangria while the boys played bocce ball and lacrosse. Even though it was hot outside, we lived it up! A lovely night with some lovely people. Ended with board games... of course.
All in all, a perfect weekend!

Happy Family.
Maybe the boyfriend and I are just weird. Maybe that's why we treat the teddybear, that I got from him a year or so ago (all the way back here), as our pet. I will be kinda devastated when he starts to fall apart. I'm going to be honest and say I'm surprised he's lasted this long. I sleep with him every night (okay on top of him) because he's the perfect size to use as a headrest. John comes into my room everyday and literally cracks up at the positions that Atlas (he has a name- this is my most embarrassing post) ends up in, after a night of me kicking him around the bed. He is literally the cutest bear in the world. To wrap this up, the boyfriend was playing with my camera two weeks ago & then we ended up taking pictures with Atlas...
Can you tell that John loves being in front of the camera? ♥ ♥ ♥
Also, I need a dog. ;)

4.
Yesterday was me and the boyfriend's four year anniversary.
Unfortunately this is the only picture we have, taken from an iPhone. Whatevs.
It was late, and we were both tired after seeing a play by Agatha Christie- 'And Then There Were None'. It was amazing! Love Agatha Christie and her ability to never let me know what's up.
Anyhow, it's crazy how fast time flies! Four years! We're almost in kindergarten! ;)
So happy to be with this guy, and hope we have many happy years ahead.
Happy Wednesday!
Cheese.
I want to write some cheesy song lyrics to put here. Okay, not cheesy, but deep and profound. You know, like something off of Adele's new album. But I'm afraid if I did that I would feel cheesy. I'm not a cheesy girl, unless it comes from the boyfriend (don't worry, it usually doesn't).

We're an odd pair. He's blunt, and logical, and a thinker. I'm emotional, and stubborn, and definitely a feeler.
A good match. (Most of the time- hah).
Somehow he ended up being my best friend.

I'm incredibly blessed.
And terrified.
I guess that's the beauty of it all.
Oh hello Thursday night.

Random Occipital Stimulation
School has started. I am not ready.
(That's all I'm going to say on the subject)
The boyfriend is home.
We both got hair cuts.
(Ugh, does anyone else hate it when boys cut their hair?)
I like his hair fluffy.
Anyways. I don't have much to say (lies). So I thought I'd give you some visual stimulation.

This is my second home. And every sunset is prettier than the last.
He is incredibly talented.
We fight over virtual eye-patches and pirate hats.
So now that I've stimulated your occipital lobe.... that's your eyes right? I swear I'm an ex-bio major.
School has started and big things are about to start happening! I'm officially changing my major to Media Productions with a Bio minor so I can keep all those stupid bio credits. I'm applying for a photographer position at our school newspaper. AND I applied for a real job today as opposed to an internship/shadowing job. Cross your fingers for me. It's an on-campus office job and would be super convenient!
I have been lazy, my friends. So lazy that I haven't wanted to get dressed in real people clothes. Therefore, I haven't really photographed myself much. Hopefully this will change.
I need to go to sleep. I have a pilates class tomorrow morning at 11:30 and I'm somewhat freaked.
I banged my knee pretty bad today, while making fun of my boyfriend (karma). And I couldn't stop laughing (because my body thinks it's funny when I'm in pain), even though I wanted to cry. Does anyone else laugh when they're dying of pain?
ANYWAYS. Wish me luck with pilates, I really hope my knee doesn't give out on the first day. That would be just lovely.
Auto Correct
Do you have a phone that likes to tell you what to say to your friends and/or boyfriend? I do. It likes to tell people weird things and call people by different names. And it's never my fault. It does it on it's own, I tell you.
My boyfriend and I have such a strong relationship.
And when I asked him the next morning why his first thought was to break up with me, his response was
"Abbey, you were a zombie."
I wasn't aware zombies were civilized enough to text now.
My favorite part of this was that his firsts response wasn't like what the heck- but he had to tell me that there are "unacceptable" diseases in maggots. Yeah, okay, like I didn't know maggots were gross.
I've used the word maggot way too much in this post.
And I was going to put pictures up of my lovely outfit today. I wore a scarf in a way that I don't usually wear a scarf- it was innovative. Except that I had a little mini-meltdown. You know what I'm talking about. ("I hate all my clothes/I'm tired/I don't want to take two finals tomorrow")
I don't really hate all my clothes. I'm very grateful for them. (John made sure to inform me that many people in the world would be thrilled to have any piece of my clothing. Operation guilt trip successful).
I love my boyfriend. He's completely hilarious, even when he knocks a full glass of tea onto my leather purse.
Okay, I didn't love him so much quite at that moment. But he made up for it with a Harry Potter joke right after.
Okay enough rambling.
Goodnight Thursday!
My Boyfriend...
makes me laugh so unbelievably hard. And most of the time it's not on purpose. (Not to say he isn't funny... just that his candid self is pretty awesome).
Last night we were playing Mario Kart Wii- a game that I'm pretty competitive at. So, we're playing and I get hit by a turtle shell, so of course I'm yelling at the tv and the boyfriend snorts at me like "you have no idea what you're doing". So, in all competitiveness, I look at his screen.
"Boyfriend, maybe you should try reversing."
The boyfriend had been making fun of me up until this point, thinking that I was so horrible at Mario Kart that I couldn't NOT run into a wall. Unfortunately for him I am SO GOOD at Mario Kart that he thought he was me- in first place- about to win.
His actual self was ramming into a wall over and over and over, so far behind that everyone had lapped him. [And he thought it was me the whole time]
He blames it on the fact that he usually picks Waluigi. But, I've never played him as anyone but Waluigi- so therefore the logic is flawed. (;
Boys are so funny.
