This fall has been so strange. The months are flying by, and Halloween is tomorrow! What? I haven't done anything halloween related, except get scared out of my wits this past weekend. We've determined that my friend's ranch house is haunted. Stayed up late watching Too Cute on Animal Planet (who gets scared after watching this show?), and then pretty much fell asleep on the couches upstairs... as soon as I turn the TV off to fall asleep we hear slamming doors from outside. K... we're supposed to be the only ones on the whole ranch.. then every wall in the house creaks like someone's walking around outside. Sooo we turned the TV back on to watch some more of Too Cute (seriously, best show) and find out that its over and now its some reality show about werewolves. Great. Then we find Friends! Joy! Then we finally fall asleep, until I wake up to turn off the TV and when I press off it makes the loudest static noise and doesn't turn off- just keeps playing ridiculously loud static! So I turn it back on-everything's normal. Then I turn it off.. and it goes straight off.. what the heck. Haunted house. haha. That is my halloween story for you. Hope you enjoyed. Below is another outtake from the ranch..
This weekend.
An ode to Ronald.
My roommate got a kitten in June, and now he's almost a full grown cat. Ronald. I don't really know what I want to talk about besides that I'm tired of his little kitten claws. Ronald, you make me grateful when I'm with my full grown cat back at home. Maggie never claws me when I want to pet her a little bit. But, its okay. I will forgive you for literally scarring me for life. My hands will never look the same. I know you mean it in good fun. Besides that, I enjoy scaring you. When you get all poofed up, it really makes me laugh. Most of the time its not even on purpose. You do have a cute little look you do when you're interested in something. Thanks for being funny, and for letting me take your picture when I have nothing better to do.
Sorry roommate for always stealing your kitty. ;)
I got a little creative with my new tablet... don't know if you could tell. (:

Home Brew
I'm taking a Filmmaking Documentary class this semester, lucky for me! Our school thankfully gave our two teachers (Media Production professor + grad Oral History professor) a chance to try out this new type of class. We are a mix of graduate students and undergraduate students, and we get to make our own documentaries (based around food culture in Houston) that will be part of a larger project in the long run.. including an interactive website and a museum exhibition. Pretty fun class, really. Anyways, my group is doing our project on the local home-brewing scene in Houston. This weekend is the Dixie Cup, a big home-brewing competition, that we hope to cover! Seriously, we probably have the most fun documentary. While interviewing some of the guys, we were forced to drink beer and make hilarious conversation (so hard ;). We got some great video, and when its completed I'll probably end up posting it. In the mean time... here are some fun snaps I took last week of the Houston Foam Rangers (so great).
froyos.

Somehow I convinced the boy to come & get me after his night class so that we could go get some froyos. He thinks it's ridiculous that I add an 's' onto froyo (so, of course, it makes me do it more often). I always stick to my perfect concoction of strawberry-kiwi and a dab of cheesecake on top, with strawberries, gummy bears, and cookie dough toppings. Delicious. John always forgets how good froyo is until he gets there and ends up with a crazy mix of nearly everything. To each their own.
John wanted to take a picture of me and after multiple minutes of hearing the autofocus work its magic, i was like okay, hand me the camera. John's like, "But.. I only took 2 pictures..". That's cool, John. Playing with autofocus and not getting any pictures of anything but your froyo cup is cool. It's whatever. ;)
Happy Monday night!
Gloomy
This weekend has been a strange one. I've been a bit bedridden with back pain (very weird), but also had to get a lot done. We're making a student documentary on home-brewing beer culture, so I spent a couple hours on Saturday attending a brew-in. So cool. We got a lot of great footage, and I got some cool pictures to show later! I finally got to watch Moonrise Kingdom, and I am so happy. Wes Anderson is a genius. The whole thing was so great- from the storyline to the filming. Love, love, love. Very inspiring. Today, it was a gloomy gloomy day. The best kind of day! The boyfriend and I sat in bed while he helped me with some GRE studying, and I got treated to a brownie blow-out. Yum. Not too bad of a day. :) I love gloomy lighting, so we took some pictures of ourselves. haha. So here's a long-overdue-not-very-exciting outfit post. We look a little subdued, guess it was the lighting getting to us!

Coldspiration.
I am so in love with this image (found here). It sums up everything so great about winter time. Coats, boots, somewhat gloomy weather, plaid, rosy cheeks... maybe not those expressions (heh). I am so excited for the cold!! I am already daydreaming about camping and wearing big comfy sweaters, cozying up to the fire. Ice skating, hot tubbing, photoshoots in the cold! Eep! Some other things I'm dreaming about... weirdly enough..
1. Chicken Pot Pie. (here)
2. Comfy, warm socks. (here)
3. Peppermint icing? Enough said. (here)
4. Sweater time. (here)
5. Iceland. Obsessed. (here)

mer.

A little glimpse of my afternoon/evening with my niece meredith. Look at me being all cocky and putting my name on these pictures! A bit tacky? I'm not sure. Felt weird putting up fancy pictures of my niece without some sort of tag. Cause she's so darn cute. We shall see if I come up with a better way of displaying family photos... #blogproblems. In other news- got a new camera lens yesterday, and I am so psyched. It is beautiful, and freakin expensive, but mainly beautiful! Going to enjoy the heck out of it! I am dogsitting this weekend and was mildly stressing out due to the added hecticness (word? oh well) of the weekend. Group projects, GRE class, friends coming in from out of town, family visiting, not seeing your boyfriend in days so really badly wanting to see him? Yep, all this weekend! PLUS dogsitting! It's a good thing I love animals. :) I have a test Monday, so the rest of the weekend will be left to studying and maybe a breakfast date with my bestie. I feel like I live a very strange life.. Most of my best friends are out of town, and I live a very calm, simple life when they're gone... then they come home and it's like I have non-stop plans. No complaints, just a strange new pace of life.
